ENAE483/ENAE788D: Principles of Space Systems Design

ENAE483/ENAE788D: Principles of Space Systems Design

Capstone design course in aerospace engineering. This course is a part of a two course series for graduating seniors for the space track in the aerospace engineering program. The course is designed to give students a hands-on experience in designing, building, and presenting a unique space system. ENAE483 is the lecture portion for the two course sequence. The course sequence is a project-based course where students are given a set of requirements and are tasked with designing a space system to meet those requirements. ENAE483 is the course that is designed to prepare the students to be ready for the team project and introduce the concepts of aerospace systems engineering.

This course is the 30+ year culmination of lecturing by Dr. David Akin of the space systems lab at the University of Maryland, and I feel privilaged to be able to co-teach this course with him. You can see the course website here.
